Worldwide Flight Services (WFS), part of the SATS Group, is a leading name in the international air cargo industry, employing more than 50,000 people worldwide. At Schiphol, Europe’s third-busiest airport, we play a crucial role in the logistics flow and international trade through one of Europe’s busiest hubs. Our services ensure that goods reach their destinations worldwide safely, quickly and efficiently.
We handle the reception, storage and preparation of both import and export cargo. This includes sorting goods, storing them safely and preparing them for further distribution. We unload trucks, build cargo on aircraft pallets or into containers, and make sure every shipment arrives at the right place somewhere else in the world. Almost every type of cargo passes through our operation, which makes our work dynamic and varied; every day, the world moves past us.
At WFS Schiphol, everything revolves around timing, overview and teamwork. Behind the warehouse, we ensure that Unit Load Devices (ULDs) are transported to and from the aircraft at the right moment, via the correct transport and in line with the planning. As an Assistant Cargo Controller, you play a key role in this process.
What will you do?
In the role of Assistant Cargo Controller, you support the Cargo Controller with daily operational tasks. You monitor the progress of cargo flows, maintain overview of ULD movements and ensure that operations run according to plan.
In the absence of the Cargo Controller, you prepare daily plans based on flight schedules and expected cargo volumes, aligning these with the capacity of the transport system. You coordinate ULD flows between the warehouse, platform and airside and ensure that priorities are followed. You register and check cargo data and monitor import and export processes in the system. In addition, you supervise Cargo Control staff, cargo drivers and couriers on the work floor. You distribute tasks, monitor progress and address colleagues when necessary. You also guide new employees and contribute to a positive working atmosphere and good cooperation.
You work with the PCHS system and support colleagues in its daily use. In case of system disruptions, you actively look for solutions and independently resolve first-line issues. You also ensure order and overview airside, including the positioning and deployment of dollies, pallet wagons and other mobile equipment. In addition, you are involved in loading and unloading trucks at the Moving Truck Dock (MTD).
This is a hands-on role in which you switch between the warehouse, office and the Cargo Control department.

- Travel allowance and parking facilities
- Opportunities to develop yourself within the organisation and within this role
- A pension scheme with the majority of contributions paid by WFS
