Worldwide Flight Services (WFS), part of the SATS Group, is a leading name in the international air cargo industry, employing more than 50,000 people worldwide. At Schiphol, Europe’s third-busiest airport, we play a vital role in the global logistics flow and international trade. Our services ensure that goods reach their destinations worldwide safely, quickly and efficiently.
We handle the reception, storage and preparation of both import and export cargo. This includes sorting goods, storing them safely and preparing them for further distribution. We unload trucks, build cargo on aircraft pallets or into containers and make sure every shipment arrives at the right place somewhere else in the world. Almost every type of cargo passes through our operation, which makes our work dynamic and varied; every day, the world moves past us.
At WFS Schiphol, everything revolves around timing, overview and teamwork. Behind the warehouse, we ensure that Unit Load Devices (ULDs) are transported to and from the aircraft at exactly the right moment. Pallets and containers are moved partly via the PCHS system, and you play an important role in keeping this process running smoothly.
For this department, we are looking for a Cargo Control Employee. Someone who enjoys working outdoors, has technical insight and is able to maintain overview in a dynamic environment.
What will you do?
As a Cargo Control Emplyee, you work on and around the platform behind the warehouse. You ensure that ULDs are at the right place at the right time.
You are responsible for checking incoming and outgoing ULDs, monitoring priorities and registering progress in the system. You work with an automated transport system and assist in resolving minor technical issues or irregularities. In case of more complex issues, you coordinate with the (Assistant) Cargo Controller to find the right solution together.
In addition, you help maintain order and overview airside by shunting and moving dollies and pallet wagons. You work closely with truck drivers, platform staff and colleagues in the warehouse and cargo office, and you are involved in loading and unloading trucks at the Moving Trucking Dock (MTD).
Most of the job is learned on the job. Experience is welcome, but motivation, eagerness to learn and technical understanding are the foundation for this role.
What do you bring?
- You enjoy working outdoors and are comfortable working in changing weather conditions
- You have technical insight and are able to quickly understand systems and processes
- You work accurately and maintain overview, even during busy periods
- You hold a valid category B driving licence
- Experience in air cargo, ULD handling or logistics is an advantage
- If you do not yet have experience, you are willing and motivated to learn
- You are available to work in a 24/7 shift roster
What do we offer?
- A salary between €2,600 and €3,200 gross per month based on a 38-hour workweek
- In addition, shift allowances for evening, night and weekend work; based on a standard roster, you can earn an average of 22% irregular hours allowance (ORT) on top of your salary
- Travel allowance and parking facilities
- Opportunities to develop yourself within the organisation and within this role
- A pension scheme with the majority of contributions paid by WFS
- A one-year contract with the prospect of a permanent position
- A dynamic and fast-growing working environment at Schiphol
