HSSE Safety Officer

We are looking for an HSSE Officer to join our QHSSE team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting and improving occupational health and safety across our organization. You will identify, assess and help control workplace risks while playing a key role in strengthening our safety culture.

You will work closely with management, supervisors and the Works Council to continuously improve safety processes. In addition, you will investigate incidents, conduct workplace inspections and provide advice on occupational health and safety matters.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, maintain and update the Risk Assessment & Evaluation (RI&E);
  • Prepare, monitor and follow up the Action Plan resulting from the RI&E;
  • Conduct workplace inspections, safety walks and safety observations;
  • Identify workplace risks and recommend improvement initiatives;
  • Investigate incidents, accidents and near misses;
  • Prepare incident reports and monitor corrective actions;
  • Advise managers and supervisors on occupational health and safety;
  • Support internal audits and workplace inspections;
  • Deliver safety awareness activities and toolbox sessions;
  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety legislation and other relevant regulations.

Profile

  • MBO level 4 working and thinking level or equivalent;
  • Completed Intermediate Safety Certificate (MVK) or willing to obtain this qualification in the short term;
  • Experience with risk assessment processes (RI&E) and managing Action Plans;
  • Experience conducting incident investigations and reporting;
  • Knowledge of Dutch occupational health and safety legislation;
  • Strong communication and advisory skills;
  • Able to work independently, accurately and in a results-oriented manner;
  • Capable of positively influencing employees and managers on safety-related topics.

Preferred

  • Experience as a Prevention Officer or HSSE Officer;
  • Experience within logistics, aviation, transport or another operational environment;
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety Management Systems.

About the Team

You will become part of the QHSSE department. Together with the QHSSE Manager, Security & Quality Manager, Quality & Healthcare Specialist and Quality & Safety Coordinator, you will contribute to continuous improvements in quality, health, safety, security and environmental performance. Within this role, your primary focus will be occupational health, workplace safety and prevention.
